The Bloomberg Honolulu Star-Bulletin Index is a price-weighted index designed to measure the performance of Hawaii-based companies. The index was developed with a base value of 100 as of December 31, 1999. A chart of the index which shows the weekly performance of its members is published weekly in the Honolulu Star-Bulletin.



Mixed results


Mera Pharmaceuticals Inc., the Big Island biotech formerly known as Aquasearch, led the Bloomberg Honolulu Star-Bulletin Index this week with a gain of 13.6 percent. The company's stock, traded over the counter, finished the week at 2.5 cents.

Mera's biotech neighbor, Cyanotech Corp., trailed the index with a loss of 8.15 percent, closing yesterday at $1.24. Cyanotech recently posted its third profitable quarter, but its stock has plummeted 46 percent from a 52-week high of $2.30 on Jan. 12.
