Mililani advances in PONY World Series

Mililani broke a 3-3 tie with a five-run sixth inning en route to an 8-3 victory over Caguas, Puerto Rico, yesterday at the PONY World Series for 13-14 year olds in Washington, Pa.

Kyle Gonzaga earned the win with a seven-inning complete game. He allowed four hits, walked three and fanned 11.

Mililani (2-0) advances to a semifinal-round game Thursday against the winner of an elimination game between Caguas and Okinawa.

In the sixth, three Mililani runs scored on errors, another came home on a wild pitch and Darby Ventura singled in a run.

Super bike series Sunday

The Hawaii Road Racing Association will conduct a Super Bike Series Points Championship race Sunday at Hawaii Raceway Park.

The gates open at 10 a.m.. Racing starts at 11 a.m. General admission is $6. Additional information is available at www.hrra.net.

Bus service for UH Warriors football game

Roberts Hawaii School Bus is offering round trip, air conditioned, shuttle bus service to Aloha Stadium for the Hawaii-Florida Atlantic football game for $6.

Bus No. 1 will pick up at Mililani Mauka Park n' Ride at 4:30 p.m. and go directly to the stadium.

Bus No. 2 will pick up at Kailua District Park on Kainalu Ave. at 4:30 p.m., then pick up at the Windward Shopping Mall Shopping Center on Alaloa St., at 4:45 p.m. and proceed to the stadium.

Bus No. 3 picks up at the Hawaii Kai Park n' Ride at 4:30 p.m., at Bank of Hawaii Kahala Mall at 4:45 p.m. and then goes to the stadium.

Reservations are required and the service is first come, first serve. For reservations and additional information, call 832-4886.

Greer set for paraolympics

Kaneohe resident John Greer is fourth-seeded in doubles for the paraolympics to be held in Athens, Greece, Sept. 17-28 following the Olympic Games.

Greer is the only paraolympian to come out of Hawaii.

He competes in ITF sanctioned events that follow the same path as the pro circuit. Greer is currently ranked 19th in the world in singles and 14th in doubles.

Grand Slam returns to Poipu Bay

The PGA Grand Slam of Golf will be held at the Poipu Bay Course, Dec. 2-4.

The 36-hole stroke-play event features the winners of The Masters, U.S. Open, British Open and The PGA Championship. The four golfers are Phil Mickelson, Todd Hamilton, Retief Goosen and Vijay Singh.
