Tickets are on sale for the Taste at Kapolei, a wining and dining event on the west side of the island that generates scholarship funds for Leeward Oahu students.

The Rotary Club of Kapolei is in its fifth year of sponsoring the oceanside event at Ko Olina Resort & Marina -- to be held 5:30 to 9 p.m. Sept. 25.

Included will be more than 20 restaurants, beer and wine stations, entertainment, silent auction and a fireworks display.

Since 2000, the Taste at Kapolei has generated more than $200,000 for educational and scholarship programs for Leeward students.

Participating restaurants include the newly opened Roy's at Ko Olina and the soon-to-be opened Buono Pasto Assagio, coming to Kapolei.

Tickets will sell for $60 until Sept. 17, when the price goes up to $75. Sponsorship packages are available. Call 275-3010. Purchase tickets through www.ticketmaster.com or at Ticketmaster outlets at Times Supermarkets, Blaisdell Box Office and Panda Travel. To charge by phone call (877) 750-4400. Ticketmaster service fees apply.

Low-sodium cooking

The Rehabilitation Center of the Pacific continues its series of classes on low-sodium cooking with a session at 5:30 p.m. Aug. 25.

The two-hour class in the Frear Cafeteria focuses on cooking with herbs and spices instead of salt.

Cost is $30. Call 566-3780.
