Kai records assist as U.S. wins Nordic Cup

The United States Under-21 Women's National Team dominated Sweden yesterday to win the 2004 Nordic Cup championship game 3-0 at Akureyri, Iceland.

Hawaii junior Natasha Kai picked up her second assist of the tournament in the 60th minute when she set up the final U.S. score by Carli Lloyd. Kai outran a defender to track down a Jenny Farenbaugh pass up the right sideline. Kai whipped a cross back to the charging Lloyd, whose hard shot sliced off a defender and glanced off goalkeeper Kristin Hammarstrom's hands into the net.

That gave Kai three goals and two assists for the tournament, tying her with Kelly Wilson of Texas for U.S scoring honors at the Cup.
