Jason Momoa’s lava-lava

More kudos for "North Shore" co-star Jason Momoa, who "Extra" TV calls "the hot Hawaiian hunk burning up the beaches" on the Fox series. Momoa stopped by "Extra" in Los Angeles to tape an interview wearing a "lava-lava," which he described as "basically a sarong. ... It's just what the Hawaiian men wear." He also wore pink flip-flops. ... Speaking about "North Shore," staffers could learn today if the show will be picked up for another nine episodes. ... Yes that was Sandra Bullock and Jesse James snuggling, kissing, swimming and feeding each other at the Kahala Mandarin Oriental this weekend. They also enjoyed lunch at Hula Grill on Sunday, riding into Waikiki on a rented Harley Davidson. ... Australian producer David Lipman of "Shrek 2" dined at Chef Mavro last week feasting on chef George Mavrothalassitis' green-tea dusted zucchini blossom tempura; essence of watercress; and roasted lamb with mushrooms, Maui onions and thyme jus. The chef and his wife, P.R. woman Donna Jung, looked fashionable on a tour of Waikiki's newly opened Dior boutique Friday. ... Morton's Steakhouse at Ala Moana also had its share of stars. Among those sighted recently were Carole Kai and hubbie Eddie Onouye, Emme Tomimbang and husband judge James Burns, slack-key guitarist Ozzie Kotani and Joe Moore with "Honeymooner's" co-star Pat Sajak. ...

If you're more of a listener and love the sound of trumpets, the symphony's Hawaiian Airlines Pops Series opens its season with multi-Grammy-winning jazz trumpeter Arturo Sandoval on Sept. 10 and 11 at the Blaisdell Concert Hall. Tickets go on sale Monday for $25 to $70. ... Finally, for athletic souls, the 23rd annual Honolulu Symphony Fun Run takes place 8 a.m. Oct. 10 at Fort Ruger (Triangle) Park. For the athletically challenged, there is a 1.5-mile route in addition to the 4-mile route that weaves through Kahala. A Musical Party in the Park will follow with live entertainment. Symphony's clarinetist Norm Foster designed this year's tee commemorating the event. Registration fees run $10 to $30.
