Iron Chef Sakai goes for $7,200 at auction
Iron Chef Hiroyuki Sakai's "King of the Iron Chefs" auction item, a dinner for 10 prepared by Sakai at a home, went for $7,200, the highest bid for live auction items at the Black Tie & Blue Jeans event last Saturday night. The Waialae Country Club affair was a fund-raiser for the American Heart Association. Hawaii's Shobi Reynolds, assisted by her daughter Mie, represents Chef Sakai, Inc. Maya Lynn Perry interpreted for Sakai during filming for "Two Skinny Chefs" at Chai's Sunday night ...Uke master Bruce Shima-bukuro & Friends entertain at tonight's "Joy of Food & Wine" extravaganza at the Hilton's Tapa Ballroom, a benefit for Rehab Hospital. Guests may taste up to 200 vintages and try 30 cheeses at the party. Tickets are $100 at the door. Laurie Tom is the chair and Gene and Cecilia Doo are honorary chairs.
