Foods of Portugal showcased through July 25

The foods of Portugal are showcased through July 25 at the Plantation Cafe in the Ala Moana Hotel.

Sous chef Mark Braz has compiled a menu of his grandmother's recipes, with the dishes sampled for authenticity by five members of the Hawaii Council on Portuguese Heritage.

The menu, available Tuesdays through Sundays, includes three new entrees each week, including Carne de Porco a Alentejana (braised pork loin with clams), Truta a Moda de Bragana (trout wrapped in prosciutto), Lombo de Porco Assado (pork loin with tomato and paprika sauce), Caldeirada de Lulas a Madeirense (squid stew) and Bacalhau a Gomes de Sa (casserole of salt cod).

All meals come with salad, Portuguese potato soup and flan for dessert.

Complete lunches are $13.50 to $15.50; dinners are $14.50 to $16.50. Items from the Flavors of Portugal menu will be included on the dinner buffets Fridays and Saturdays and at Sunday brunch. For more information, call 955-4811.
