RUSSELL IN ACTION: Russell Tanoue snapped some VIP guests while MidWeek's Yu Shing Ting watched their reactions as Tanoue's Piranha Room party filled the Ocean Club on Saturday. Ting brought Tanoue a framed copy of his seventh MidWeek photo cover. Tanoue presented it to male model Keoni Hansen whose washboard abs made the cover pure eye candy for female readers

"WELCOME TO MOROCCO": "Mysterious Morocco"was the theme as Russell Tanoue kicked off a new series of Piranha Room theme parties. Jane Loo, second from left, was greeted at the door by Ash Marzouki, left, Valerie Seagrave and Laka Carpenter. There may have been other club events happening in Honolulu that night, but there was a line outside the Ocean Club at 2:45 a.m.

HANGIN' WITH RUSSELL: Calendar model Jenny Lopez joined Piranha Room creator Russell Tanoue in the VIP area. Others on the VIP list included Kalai Miller, who dropped by to celebrate his birthday, and Iraqi war vets Keoni Lonzanida and Adam Spagar of the 229th MP Company (VAANG) just back from Abu Gharaib.

A GRAND FINALE: Maestro Samuel Wong, left, talked backstage with Cipa and Misha Dichter, the final guests of the season, after their exquisite rendition of Mendelssohn's "Concerto for Two Pianos" with the Honolulu Symphony last Friday. The contrast between the two pianists' styles added delicate textures to a beautiful composition.

RUFUS IS BACK!: Comedian Rufus Demarco, center, welcomed Kasey Olson, left, Jessica McPhee, Leila Breaux and Ryan Brady on stage at the Palace Showroom after Andy Bumatai's Stand Up Comedy Showcase on Sunday. Demarco's set got Breaux laughing so hard that she almost stopped the show; he directed several ad libs her way. Demarco so impressed Outrigger Entertainment exec Frances Kirk that he'll be subbing for Paul Ogata at the Palace this month while Ogata performs on the mainland.
