[HIGH SCHOOL GIRLS BASKETBALL]

Star-Bulletin Top 10

The top 10 high school basketball teams,
according to a poll of media statewide.

Baldwin leapfrogs to No. 4

The top six teams at last week's state tournament are also ranked No. 1 through No. 6 in the Star-Bulletin's girls basketball final top 10 poll.

Big Island champ Konawaena proved it belonged where it was situated all season long -- at No. 1 in the poll after charging to the championship.

Oahu Interscholastic Association champ Kahuku and Interscholastic League of Honolulu winner Punahou spent most of the year at Nos. 2 and 3, and that's where they ended up.

Maui Interscholastic League title winner Baldwin jumped five spots all the way to No. 4. The Bears' two losses in the tourney were to the Wildcats and Buffanblu.

Iolani dropped one position to No. 5, while Lahainaluna, unranked last week, moved back into the poll at No. 6 after a strong state tourney performance.

No. 7 Kamehameha, No. 8 Kaiser and No. 10 Kalaheo lost a little bit of ground, while tourney consolation champion Honokaa entered the poll for the first time at No. 9.

McKinley, which lost its two tourney games, and Maryknoll fell out.
