Star-Bulletin Index

The Bloomberg Honolulu Star-Bulletin Index is a price-weighted index designed to measure the performance of Hawaii-based companies. The index was developed with a base value of 100 as of December 31, 1999. A chart of the index which shows the weekly performance of its members is published weekly in the Honolulu Star-Bulletin.


Performing well
Barnwell Industries Inc., the best-performing local stock this year, rose 6.1 percent this week to lead 10 other companies in the Bloomberg Honolulu Star-Bulletin index. The company, which has real estate holdings on the Big Island and conducts oil and gas operations in Canada, last week said that its fiscal 2004 second-quarter earnings jumped twelvefold to $3.7 million. Barnwell's stock closed yesterday at $47, up 48.5 percent for the year.
ML Macadamia Orchards LP was the second-best performer as its shares gained 3.4 percent to $3.98.
