Action hero Chan to host
‘80 Days’ debut in Hawaii

Actor and restaurateur Jackie Chan will be in Honolulu next month for a private benefit screening of his latest movie, "Around the World in 80 Days."

The screening will take place at 7 p.m. June 8 at the Blaisdell Concert Hall. Tickets are $35, $50 and $100, available at the Blaisdell box office or by calling 591-2211.

The event is being held in conjunction with the official grand opening of Chan's first restaurant in the United States, Jackie's Kitchen at Ala Moana Center. Proceeds will benefit Hawaii nonprofit groups affiliated with the Jackie Chan Charitable Foundation, USA.

Music will be provided by Nohelani Cypriano, and Chan will also entertain before introducing the movie. There will also be a silent auction of autographed Jackie Chan keepsakes, jewelry and dining certificates.

"Around the World in 80 Days" is a period adventure in which three unlikely heroes -- eccentric inventor Phileas Fogg (Steve Coogan), Passepartout (Chan) and femme fatale Monique (Cecile De France) -- attempt to settle a wager by circumnavigating the globe in 80 days. Along the way, they face obstacles and an all-star cast including Arnold Schwarzenegger, Kathy Bates, Owen and Luke Wilson, and Rob Schneider.

The film debuts in Hollywood on June 16.
