Aweau fine tunes
tuna casserole


This dish was prepared by musician Nathan Aweau on "Hawaii's Kitchen" Sunday. The show airs at 5:30 p.m. on KHON/Fox.

Tuna Casserole

2 cups bow tie pasta
1 teaspoon butter or margarine
1 mushroom, chopped
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon pepper
1 teaspoon flour
1/3 cup chicken or beef broth
1/4 cup cream
1 small clove garlic, minced
3/4 cup peas
6 pearl white onions
1/2 can tuna
1/4 cup Parmesan cheese

Cook pasta as directed.

Meanwhile, melt butter and add mushrooms. Add salt and pepper; stir. Let simmer about a minute, then sprinkle with flour and stir. Add broth and cream. Add garlic, stir and simmer 2 minutes.

Add peas, onions, tuna and Parmesan cheese to sauce. Stir and let simmer.

When pasta is ready, strain and immediately add to sauce. Mix and serve.
