Cuddle up with new soft activity books

Children can get a head start on learning with Soft Play's new activity books that do away with paper, using instead, soft, cuddly and durable fabric.

"Good Night Elmo" is among titles in the Soft Play book set.

The colorful cloth books, often with three-dimensional pages, feature favorite characters such as Elmo and Clifford the Big, Red Dog.

The books are geared for children 6 months to 3 years old. Activities within the books encourage early language development, counting and motor skills. Children are invited to button Elmo's pajama top and put toys, attached to a string, back in his toy box.

Infants are allowed to experience a day on the farm thanks to images of a pony, cow, pig and sheep. Each book includes a built-in rattle and is small enough to fit in the palm of an adult's hand.

"Good Night, S*l*e*e*p Tight" pillow books are also available, with titles including "Prayer Bear," "Noah's Ark" and "Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star." A child can read and fall asleep with the snuggly book.

All the books are lightweight and easy for babies or small children to carry around.

Products can be ordered at A four-pack of Little Softy books costs $11.95. Soft Play story and activity books and pillow books cost $14.95. New titles include: "Clifford Play Time," "Good Night Elmo" and "Fisher Price Learn to Count Playset." The Web site also features soft foam books and felt play sets. Select titles are available at both Sam's and Costco stores.
