» Hard Rock Cafe Maui has appointed Rich Butler to operations manager. He will be responsible for all beverages, entertainment and live events. He joined the Hard Rock Cafe in La Jolla, Calif. in 1997 as a kitchen supervisor and worked through the ranks of kitchen manager, training manager, events manager and now in overall operations.

» Nishihama & Kishida CPAs Inc. promoted Jonah Kaneshiro, Pamela Lee, Cindy Sasaki and Dayna Uehara from staff accountants to audit seniors.

RECOGNITION

» Dr. Gerard K. Akaka has been named the 2004 Ke Kauka Pookela - Outstanding Physician of the Year at The Queen's Medical Center. He has served as the Queen Emma Clinics medical director since 2002. The award recognizes a physician who best supports Queen Emma and King Kamehameha's mission to "preserve, protect and perpetuate the health of all the people of Hawaii, recognizing the special health needs of Native Hawaiians." Winners receive $500 and a commemorative plaque and declaration.

» The Council of Real Estate Brokerage and Managers has awarded the certified real estate brokerage manager designation to Realtor Scott F. Church of SFC Realty Corp. in Kailua-Kona. They have also awarded the designation of certified residential specialist to Wes Anderson of Realty Executives Aloha Inc.
