Woman shot
at Kakaako bar

A man shot and critically wounded a waitress at a Kakaako bar last night, police said.

The 46-year-old employee of the Queen Bee bar at Queen and Cooke streets was taken to The Queen's Medical Center in critical condition with trauma to the neck, head and face, according to Emergency Medical Services personnel.

Her alleged assailant was taken to Straub Hospital in critical condition, but it was unclear what caused his injuries.

The shooting occurred after 9 p.m. and witnesses said the woman was shot twice.

"I thought I heard backfire from a car and then, I swear, about three seconds later everybody came running out of the bar," said Torrey Hufana, a clerk at the Diamond Head Video store next to the Queen Bee.
