Camping permits
available at new spot


Camping and fishing permits from the state Department of Land and Natural Resources are now available on the third floor of the Kalanimoku building, 1151 Punchbowl St.

>> Camping permits: Division of State Parks, Room 310. Hours are Monday-Friday, 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., closed on state holidays. This division issues camping permits for the 15 state parks that offer camping or lodging facilities.

It also issues group or special-use permits for other state park facilities such as picnic areas and pavilions, special events and day-use hiking permits for state park trails. Permit phone: 587-0300 on Oahu.

>> Fishing permits, licenses and information: Division of Aquatic Resources, Room 330. Hours are Monday-Friday, 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., closed on state holidays. This division issues permits and licenses for fishing, collecting aquatic life and other activities relating to aquatic resources. Free publications on Hawaii fishing rules and other aquatic issues are available at the office and online at www.hawaii.gov/dlnr/dar. Permit/license phone on Oahu: 587-0109.

>> Activities in Oahu state forest reserves: Division of Forestry and Wildlife, Room 325. Hours are Monday-Friday, 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., closed on state holidays. This division issues permits for hiking, camping or gathering in Oahu forest reserves. It also has free hiking maps. Trail maps and permits also are available online at www.dofaw.net.
