Bengals pick up Siofele, release Cockheran

The Cincinnati Bengals signed Saint Louis School and Arizona alumnus Joe Siofele to a one-year free agent contract yesterday after the linebacker tried out for the team at its rookie minicamp over the weekend.

The Bengals had signed former Hawaii receiver Jeremiah Cockheran, but released him because he failed a physical exam due to a shoulder injury.

Stephany Lee wins gold at Pan Am Games

Moanalua graduate Stephany Lee won a gold medal in wrestling Saturday at the Pan Am Games in Guatemala City.

Lee, wrestling in the 158.5-pound division, pinned silver medalist Raine Guerra of Venezuela and beat bronze medalist Rosangela Conceicao of Brazil, 10-0.

Lee had already qualified for the Olympic Trials, May 21-23 in Indianapolis. She is a sophomore at Missouri Valley College.

Danyelle Hedin, a Kailua High School senior, won a silver medal at the Pan Am Games in the 121-pound division. Sandra Roa of Colombia beat Hedin, 7-2, for the gold medal.
