The girls of Halau Hula O Hokulani, under the direction of Hokulani and Larry DeRego, danced at Kapiolani Park during the 77th Annual Lei Day Festival yesterday. The theme for the adult, teen and children's lei contests was Na Mele No Na Lei, "Songs of the Lei."

The Menehune Mac Chocolate Factory and Gift Center is opening its doors to children, giving them the chance to make a box of chocolates for their moms for Mother's Day. Dimitrius Mitte, 5, was all smiles yesterday as Vecenta Morales helped him make chocolates for his mom, Jamie Mitte. He was there with his 9-year-old sister, Tiare, and their dad, The program continues today and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. for ages 7 and up; cost is $7. Proceeds benefit the Hawaii Children's Cancer Foundation. Call 841-3344 for reservations.
