>> Jane B. Smoot, a Honolulu Edward Jones investment representative for four years, has been named a principal with the firm's holding company, Jones Financial Cos. She was one of only 51 individuals chosen from more than 29,000 associates internationally to join the firm's 276 principals.

>> Ruth's Chris Steak House has promoted Eric Hill to assistant general manager. Hill has been with the restaurant since 1997. He has been on the management team for three years.
