The Bloomberg Honolulu Star-Bulletin Index is a price-weighted index designed to measure the performance of Hawaii-based companies. The index was developed with a base value of 100 as of December 31, 1999. A chart of the index which shows the weekly performance of its members is published weekly in the Honolulu Star-Bulletin.



Dead heat


The race for the best-performing local stock this year turned into a three-way logjam in the Bloomberg Honolulu Star-Bulletin index with the top three companies separated at the end of the week by less than a percentage point.

City Bank parent CB Bancshares Inc. has risen 37 percent for the year after rising 0.4 percent this week. Barnwell Industries Inc. has jumped 36.65 percent following a decline of 4.4 percent. Hawaiian Airlines parent Hawaiian Holdings Inc. has gone up 36.1 percent after slipping 0.5 percent.
