Bengals sign former UH receiver Cockheran

CINCINNATI >> Former Hawaii receiver Jeremiah Cockheran and 17 other undrafted free agents signed two-year deals yesterday with the Cincinnati Bengals.

Cockheran was second on the Warriors in receiving last season with 61 receptions for 997 yards and nine touchdowns.

Also signing contracts were quarterback Scott Rislov and receiver Jamall Broussard from San Jose State.

Irons a winner, Moore finishes second

Defending two-time world champion Andy Irons of Hawaii won the Body Glove Surfbout at Lower Trestles in San Clemente, Calif.

Irons defeated Rob Machado, a former Surfbout and U.S. champion, to win the two-star World Qualifying Series-rated event and take an early lead on the Surfing America Pro Tour. The victory gave Irons $5,000.

In the SG Lowers Pro, former World Championship Tour competitor Julia Christian defeated 11-year-old Carissa Moore of Hawaii to win $5,000. Moore is the youngest finalist in a WQS event.

Former Surfbout champions include Kelly Slater and Taylor Knox.
