Kailua, Kaiser win titles

The Kailua boys and Kaiser girls tennis teams won Oahu Interscholastic Association championships yesterday.

The Surfriders upset Roosevelt 3-1 for their first OIA boys title since records started being kept in 1973. Kailua placed second to the Rough Riders in the OIA standings and lost to them 4-1 in a regular-season match last week before yesterday's turnaround.

The Cougars defeated Waipahu 3-2 for their first OIA girls championship since 1988.

The OIA's postseason classic is slated for April 23, 24 and 26. The OIA individual championships follow May 1 and 3 at Central Oahu Regional Park.
