The Bloomberg Honolulu Star-Bulletin Index is a price-weighted index designed to measure the performance of Hawaii-based companies. The index was developed with a base value of 100 as of December 31, 1999. A chart of the index which shows the weekly performance of its members is published weekly in the Honolulu Star-Bulletin.



Hawaiian Air up again


The stock of Hawaiian Airlines' parent remained one of the best performers in 2004 in the Bloomberg Honolulu Star-Bulletin index as it led the way this week with a gain of 12.3 percent. Hawaiian Holdings Inc. closed yesterday at $4.38 and is now up 37.1 percent in 2004.

Barnwell Industries Inc., the biggest gainer this year with a 39.8 percent increase, had the second-best performance this week as its stock rose 5.4 percent.

Central Pacific Financial Corp., which extended its merger deadline for CB Bancshares Inc., was the worst performer with a 7.3 percent decline.
