Hawaii Coffee starts tea time

Hawaii Coffee Co. is making its own tea with the purchase of a $100,000 tea-bagging machine.

"We are excited about the expansion of our business into locally manufactured tea products," said Jim Wayman, president of Hawaii Coffee Co.

The company acquired Hawaiian Islands Tea Co. in December and can now produce more than 57,000 tea bags during an eight-hour shift at its Kalani Street facility.

Varieties of green, black and herbal teas are available in 1.3-ounce boxes containing 20 bags each. Flavors include Guava Ginseng, Mango Maui and Passion Fruit Na Pali.

Hawaiian Islands Tea founder Dave Plaskett has joined Hawaii Coffee Co. as director of tea.

Aloha changes baggage policies

>> The second 70 pounds travels on a space-available basis.
>> No one piece can weigh more than 70 pounds or be larger than a certain size.

Aloha will accept baggage heavier than 140 pounds on a space-available basis for $25 per item. Excess baggage items cannot exceed 35 pounds apiece. Oversized baggage also is subject to a $25 charge per item.
