The Bloomberg Honolulu Star-Bulletin Index is a price-weighted index designed to measure the performance of Hawaii-based companies. The index was developed with a base value of 100 as of December 31, 1999. A chart of the index which shows the weekly performance of its members is published weekly in the Honolulu Star-Bulletin.



Little winners


Two of the lowest-priced stocks in the Bloomberg Honolulu Star-Bulletin index turned in the best gains in a holiday-shortened week. The stocks of Hawaiian Holdings Inc. and ML Macadamia Orchards LP both increased more than 3 percent.

The shares of Hawaiian Airlines' parent rose 3.5 percent to $3.90 as the company boosted its year-to-date gain to 30.4 percent. ML Macadamia advanced 3.3 percent to $4.71, two cents below its 52-week high reached on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, Maui Land & Pineapple Co. rose 0.7 percent to $37.25.
