Warriors stay No. 6 in volleyball poll

The Hawaii men's volleyball team remained ranked sixth in the USA Today/AVCA Coaches Top 15 released yesterday.

The Warriors (15-9) conclude their regular-season home season with matches Friday and Saturday against No. 10 UC Irvine (11-16).

UH's Gowdy qualifies for American Cup

MINNEAPOLIS >> Hawaii senior diver Mike Gowdy finished fourth in the 3-meter event at the American Cup Qualifying Meet at the University of Minnesota Aquatic Center and will advance to the Cup finals Friday.

Gowdy scored 345.18 points. Mitchell Richeson won with a 368.58.

Wahine golf team ninth at BYU tourney

ST. GEORGE, Utah >> Freshmen Sara Odelius and Dale Gammie were among the top 10 finishers and the Hawaii women's golf team placed ninth at the BYU-Dixie Classic at the Estrada Golf Course.

Odelius finished seventh with a 244, nine strokes behind medalist Sunny Oh of UNLV. Gammie tied for ninth at 226.

Hawaii had a team aggregate 953, well behind UNLV's winning 876.

Warriors place 13th: At Lompoc, Calif., the Hawaii men's golf team finished 13th at the Bite/Pacific Coast Intercollegiate at the La Purisima Golf Course.

The Warriors finished with a team 917. UC Davis won the event with an 881.

Senior James Beston led the Warriors with a 229 to tie for 39th. Matt Kodama shot a 3-under 69 to finish at 231, tying for 50th with teammate Pierre-Henri Soero.

BYUH blanks Sonoma in men's tennis, 9-0

The third-ranked Brigham Young-Hawaii men's tennis team shut out Sonoma State yesterday, 9-0, at the BYUH courts.
