Phengsavath, who is an approved tournament player, and Makaha club pro Smith beat Kevin Hayashi and Lance Taketa by a stroke to split $3,000.

Three teams tied for third.

Gammie tied for fourth: Hawaii freshman Dale Gammie shot a 76 on the second day of the BYU-Dixie Classic in St. George, Utah, yesterday, tying her for fourth place with a day to go.

Kodama starts slow: Hawaii senior Matt Kodama shot an 86 on the second day of the Pacific Coast Intercollegiate at Lompoc, Calif., yesterday, tying for 85th overall.

Pierre-Henri Soero leads the Warriors with 74s in both rounds, good enough to put him 15th. The Warriors are 15th with one round to go.

Tabion rewarded for no-hitter

Now Hawaii pitcher Shannon Tabion knows what it takes to become the Western Athletic Conference's pitcher of the week.

Tabion won the award for the second time this season this week after throwing a no-hitter at Texas-El Paso. Tabion's first award this season came when she threw a perfect game against Siena last month.

Last week, Tabion shut out the Miners twice, beating them 10-0 in five innings before shutting them out 5-0 two days later.

Christina Clark of Fresno State beat out Hawaii's Ashley Ruff for player of the week honors.

Graves going to American Cup

Hawaii diver Jason Graves finished fourth in the 10-meter event at a qualifying meet in Minneapolis, Minn., yesterday, earning a spot in the Speedo American Cup.

Graves, who represents Sunshine Diving of Honolulu, scored 314.64 points and will dive Thursday with the competition -- which allows divers a chance to qualify for the Olympic Trials -- continuing until Sunday. Chris Colwill won with a score of 379.59.

Hawaii senior Mike Gowdy will try to join Graves by qualifying today.

Sceats leads Warriors past Kingsmen

Ryan Sceats earned his 14th win of the season by sweeping Quinn Caldaron 6-3, 6-0 as the Hawaii tennis team beat Cal Lutheran 6-1 yesterday at Central Oahu Regional Park.

Sceats started the day by teaming with Dalibor Ptak to give Hawaii the doubles point with a win over Calderon and Shara Surabi 8-4. Hawaii won five of the six singles matches, with only Derrick Lajola tasting defeat.
