NBC’s ‘Hawaii’ pilot
will wind up Monday


NBC's pilot episode of "Hawaii" wraps on Monday, with the network's decision to make it a series or not coming by the end of May. In a surprise move, the network has decided to relinquish its lease of the Hawaii Film Studio, where the production is based. This allows Fox Television to move into the $16,000 a month facility to film 12 episodes of its hotel drama series "North Shore," beginning May 1.

The Fox show's new executive producers, Chris Brancato and Bert Salke ("Boomtown"), are here scouting locations. The series, which may begin airing as early as July, will open with a montage of the state's finest beachfront hotels ...

LL Cool J is being courted to play helicopter pilot TC Calvin in Imagine Entertainment's big screen version of "Magnum, P.I." (The character was played by Roger Mosley in the TV series.) The movie's story will take place in the present, with the three friends veterans of the first Persian Gulf War instead of Vietnam. The Imagine Entertainment film is still set to begin in August ...

Adam Shankman and Jennifer Gibgot's Disney-based Offspring Entertainment comedy "Overparenting" may include Hawaii filming.
