Expedia to buy
isle tour firm

InterActiveCorp's Expedia unit said it will acquire Maui-based Activity World, a reseller of Hawaii tours and activities, to expand its travel sales.

Terms weren't disclosed. Activity World has more than 80 employees and sells activities such as luaus, helicopter sightseeing tours and snorkeling trips.

The purchase of Activity World will mark at least the third acquisition of a travel-related company this year by InterActiveCorp, the Internet commerce company controlled by Barry Diller.

InterActiveCorp earlier this month said it would buy TripAdvisor Inc., a travel-research Web site, and Egencia, an online corporate travel company in Europe.
