Applications being taken
for class on Pearl Harbor

A free workshop to help teachers make connections between the "living history" of Pearl Harbor and their classrooms will be held Aug. 1-6, and applications to attend the workshop must be postmarked by Monday.

Middle and high school educators at public and private schools are invited to attend, as well as parents who are home-schooling their children. Oahu-based participants will receive a $500 stipend. Travel subsidies are available for those from the neighbor islands.

The workshop, "Remembering Pearl Harbor: History, Memory, and Memorial," will be held at the East-West Center and the USS Arizona Memorial. It is funded by a grant from the National Endowment for the Humanities.

For more information and application materials, contact Donna Lee in the East-West Center's AsiaPacificEd Program, at LeeD@EastWestCenter.org or 808-944-7378, or go to the AsiaPacificEd Web site at www.AsiaPacificEd.org. The workshop is sponsored by the East-West Center, the Arizona Memorial Museum Association and the National Park Service.
