Feds charge 2 men with
intent to distribute ‘ice’

The U.S. attorney's office charged two men yesterday with intent to distribute crystal methamphetamine after police seized "ice," $15,680 in cash, a handgun and receipts for thousands of dollars.

Police stopped Walter Cacho for a traffic violation in Hale- iwa on Jan. 15 after he left Robert Tomaszycki's Haleiwa home.

Police seized more than five ounces of crystal meth and the cash from Cacho's vehicle. More than five ounces of methamphetamine is considered distribution quantity.

Law enforcement officers searched Tomaszycki's 148-A Lokoea Place home on Sunday.

They seized numerous money order receipts showing Tomaszycki sent thousands of dollars to individuals in California, said James Yuen, special agent with the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration.

Officers also seized a loaded Beretta .25-caliber semiautomatic pistol with a magazine clip containing four rounds, Yuen said.

Officers found inside Tomas-zycki's vehicle more Western Union receipts in his name and drug payment notes, according to Yuen's affidavit.
