The Bloomberg Honolulu Star-Bulletin Index is a price-weighted index designed to measure the performance of Hawaii-based companies. The index was developed with a base value of 100 as of December 31, 1999. A chart of the index which shows the weekly performance of its members is published weekly in the Honolulu Star-Bulletin.

Barnwell Industries Inc., continuing its torrid pace, jumped 21.6 percent this week to lead 10 other stocks in the Bloomberg Honolulu Star-Bulletin index and boost its gain for the first two months of the year to 46.1 percent. The Honolulu-based company, which has oil and gas explorations in Canada and leasehold land on the Big Island, closed yesterday at an all-time high of $46.25.

Central Pacific Financial Corp. posted the second-best performance with a 6.4 percent gain to $27.43 while Cyanotech Corp., the top gainer last year with a 370 percent advance, dropped 12.4 percent to $1.34, extending its index-leading loss for the year to 28.7 percent.
