Thousands were up early yesterday morning for the 20th-anniversary Great Aloha Run. Runners raced from Aloha Tower to Aloha Stadium. Above, Rebecca Ching, Ken "Cowman" Shirk and Vincent Gamayon have run all 20 Great Aloha races. This year's winners were Kalid Abdalah, 24, of Berkeley, Calif., who won the men's race for the second year in a row; and Chelsea Smith, 19, of Spokane, Wash., for the women's race. Abdalah, a nursing student at the College of Alameda, finished in 40 minutes, 54 seconds. Smith, a sophomore at Brigham Young University-Hawaii and the NCAA Division II cross-country champion, finished in 47:49. For a listing of the top 10 men's and women's overall winners, see Scoreboard.
