Unbeaten Trojans set up
to challenge Kalaheo in OIA

Undefeated Mililani and three-time defending champion Kalaheo are the top two seeds in the Oahu Interscholastic Association basketball championship tournament starting this week.

The West Division champion Trojans (10-0) are third and the East champion Mustangs (10-1) are fourth in the Star-Bulletin's top-10 poll. They draw first-round byes along with Castle (9-2) and Leilehua (7-3).

The tournament starts Thursday with four first-round games. The quarterfinals are Friday.

Next week, the semifinals are scheduled for Wednesday with the finals on Friday. The schedule is listed below.

State softball, soccer changes: This week's girls soccer and Division I state softball tournament schedules were changed slightly yesterday, due to a Hawaii High School Athletic Association rule.

In soccer, Kauai and King Kekaulike have switched places. Kauai plays Aiea instead of Kailua, while King Kekaulike plays Kailua instead of Aiea.

In softball, Baldwin and Waimea changed spots. Baldwin plays Mililani instead of Kailua, while Waimea plays Kailua instead of Mililani.

According to the rule, an unseeded champion (Kauai in soccer and Waimea in softball) must play against a team that finishes third or lower in its league.
