Hawaii finishes fifth at Stanford Invitational

The Rainbow Wahine water polo team defeated Michigan 13-11 in double overtime yesterday in the fifth-place game of the Stanford Invitational.

Hawaii (4-3) outscored Michigan 3-1 in the second overtime period. Beth Novick scored six goals and Shannon Carroll and Darcy Scott-Hosaka had two each. Amber Lumb made 12 saves in the win.

Earlier in the day, California defeated Hawaii 9-5 for the second time this season. Novick scored two goals in the loss.

Lanakila Hockey Club third at Pacific Cup

Twoteams from the Lanakila Hockey Club made a strong showing at the Pacific Cup over the weekend.

The 15-16 year-old team was third in the Bantams A division at Anaheim, Calif. The 17-18 year-old team was third in the Midgets AA division at La Verne, Calif.
