Vulcans split doubleheader again

The UH Hilo baseball team split another doubleheader with San Diego State yesterday.

The Aztecs (2-2) won game one 9-2 and the Vulcans (4-7) rallied to take the second game 5-3.

The Aztecs scored three runs in the sixth inning and five runs in the seventh to take the first game.

In the second game, the Vulcans rallied in the sixth. After two walks and a bunt, Kaliko Oligo flew out to center for a run. Matt Ball then raced around third on SeanTamura's bloop single to center.

Another run was added in the eighth as Chris Savio raced in from second on David Chu's single up the middle.

Austin Tobin (1-0) won game two by limiting the Aztecs to two hits and a walk over five innings. Tyson Usui picked up the save with two innings of two hits relief.

The five-game series ends tomorrow with a single game at noon.
