The Bloomberg Honolulu Star-Bulletin Index is a price-weighted index designed to measure the performance of Hawaii-based companies. The index was developed with a base value of 100 as of December 31, 1999. A chart of the index which shows the weekly performance of its members is published weekly in the Honolulu Star-Bulletin.

Hawaiian flying


Hawaiian Holdings Inc.'s stock continued to soar despite its airline subsidiary being in bankruptcy. It rose 49.5 percent this week to lead 10 other stocks in the Honolulu Star-Bulletin Index. The stock hit a 52-week intraday high of 4.14 yesterday and has increased 1,328 percent since hitting an intraday low of 29 cent on June 13.

Stock for Barnwell Industries Inc., which has oil and gas operations in Alberta, Canada, and a development partnership on the Big Island, continued growing this week with a 11.5 percent increase.

ML Macadamia Orchards LP trailed the field with a 4.3 percent loss.
