Asashoryu clinches tie


TOKYO >> Yokozuna Asashoryu improved to 13-0 today at the New Year Grand Sumo Tournament, clinching at least a playoff for the title.

Kotomitsuki is the only sumotori who can catch Asashoryu and force a playoff, after improving to 11-2.

Asashoryu can clinch the title with a win or a Kotomitsuki loss.
