Asashoryu extends lead


TOKYO >> Yokozuna Asashoryu won his 11th match today, remaining the only undefeated sumotori at the New Year Grand Sumo Tournament.

Asashoryu beat Kakizoe (8-3) by yorikiri (frontal force out).

Ozeki Chiyotaikai, who was alone in second place going into today's bouts, fell to 9-2 after losing to Tochinonada (4-7). He is now tied with two others.
