‘Pearl City’ looking for
cast regulars, extras


Casting for the NBC television pilot "Pearl City," which will begin filming on Oahu March 1, has begun. Resumes and photos may be mailed to the Honolulu office of Jerold Franks, C.S.A., Academy of Film & TV, 1174 Waimanu St. Suite A, Honolulu, HI 96814.

Maui actors, union and nonunion, are asked to write "MAUI" on the envelope and indicate whether the actor is willing to appear as an extra.

All actors will be hired in Honolulu. Actors on the neighbor islands must pay their expenses to and from Honolulu for auditions. All roles except the three male leads will be cast from Honolulu. The leads will be cast in Los Angeles.

Casting will continue until early March with a tentative filming start date of March 8.

Speaking roles available are as follows:

>> Diaz: Hawaiian actress, who may be of mixed ancestry, about 25 to 30, with model looks and ability to act. She is a regular, a detective with the Pearl City police division.
>> Caucasian father: About 35, old enough to have a 6-year-old daughter. His character has been involved in a drug ring but is clean at the moment. He can look weathered and worried and does not have to be movie-star handsome. A guest star role.
>> Detective Thelma Price: About 45, Caucasian chief of detectives. This is a solid guest star role requiring a seasoned actor. Stage actors will definitely be considered.
>> Heavy-set Hawaiian or Samoan actors ages 30 to 50.
>> Heavy-set Hawaiian mother of two small children. May be of Tongan ancestry.
>> Police officers: Actors and actresses of all ethnic groups ages 20 to 50.
>> Children's role are as extras.
