Kupuna cards help
identify seniors who
are lost or disoriented


The state Department of the Attorney General and the Honolulu Police Department will issue special identification cards through May at various locations around Oahu for the elderly who may become disoriented, sick or lost.

Kupuna ID cards are intended to help emergency personnel to identify an elderly person and to contact the responsible party. The cards will contain their photos, names and emergency contact information.

The card is not an official government-issued identification card.

The ID cards will be available for seniors 65 years or older at the following locations, along with free blood pressure checks:

>> Tomorrow, 8:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m., Waipahu District Park, 94-230 Paiwa St.
>> Feb. 26, 10:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m., Kailua District Park, 21 S. Kainalu Drive
>> March 9, 9 a.m.-1 p.m., Waianae District Park, 85-601 Farrington Highway
>> April 29, 8:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m., Wahiawa District Park, 1139 Kilani Ave.
>> May 4, 8:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m., Koko Head District Park, 423 Kaumakani St.
