Tochiazuma comes back

TOKYO >> Ozeki Tochiazuma bounced back from a surprising loss to beat Tokitsuumi on the second day of the New Year Grand Sumo Tournament today.

Tochiazuma, who is fighting for promotion to yokozuna to replace retired Musashimaru, beat Tokitsuumi by oshidashi (frontal push out). Tochiazuma takes on Kyokushuzan tomorrow.

Yokozuna Asashoryu leads a group of 14 wrestlers still unbeaten after two days.

Konishiki marries: Former sumo wrestler Konishiki, 40, has gotten married with a former medical worker, his talent agency said yesterday.

Konishiki, or Hawaii's Saleva'a Atisanoe, registered his marriage to 28-year-old Chie Iijima last Wednesday, the agency said.
