UCLA defensive end Tautofi in Hula Bowl

UCLA defensive end David Tautofi, a Kaimuki High School graduate, will play in Saturday's Hula Bowl at War Memorial Stadium on Maui.

Tautofi is one of several late additions. Others include UNLV running back Larry Croom, Arizona defensive back Michael Jolivette and Virginia Tech tight end Keith Willis.

Croom scored two touchdowns in Saturday's East-West Shrine Game in San Francisco, helping the West to a 28-7 victory over the East.

UH shines at Hawaii Diving Invitational

The University of Hawaii men's diving team swept all three events at their Hawaii Diving Invitational held at the Duke Kahanamoku Aquatic Complex over the weekend.

In yesterday's 3-meter event, Hawaii's Mike Gowdy, Jonathan Coyle, Justin Wilcox and Nick O'Quin took the top four spots. Coyle later won the platform with 537.35 points, breaking his school record by over 80 points. Gowdy, Coyle and Wilcox swept the top three spots in Saturday's 1-meter.

Rainbow Wahine Miranda Maas qualified for the NCAA Zone E Championships with her score of 383.55 in the platform. Maas and teammate Alyson Giometti placed third and fourth in the 1-meter while Maas and Chrissy Menard were third and fourth in the 3-meter.

Drury University, Illinois, Wisconsin, Providence, San Diego State and Utica College were the other teams in the invite.

Wokasch fourth in Arizona marathon

Honolulu's Jeannine Wokasch was the fourth female finisher in the P.F. Chang's Rock n Roll Arizona marathon in Phoenix yesterday.

Her time of 2:27:06 placed her second in her 40-44 age division. Other runners from Hawaii that finished were Tom Craven, Tom Knoll, Lisa Ledesma, Antony Schnickel, Arvel Shults, Kamika Smith and Laurie Strommer. The turnout for the race was the largest ever for an inagural marathon.

Wrestler Remiticado sets state record

Jill Remiticado set a new Hawaii state weightlifting record by lifting 75 kg (165 pounds) in the clean and jerk in the 58 kg (127 pound) weight class at the Honolulu Open held on Saturday at the Nuuanu YMCA.

The 22-year-old former wrestling and powerlifting champion is an assistant girl's wrestling coach at Iolani and wrestled at Pacific University in Oregon. She has also held powerlifting records in the bench press and dead lift.

Bryce Yamauchi, a nationally ranked junior lifter, did 90 kg (198 pounds in the snatch) and 117.5 kg (258 pounds) in the clean and jerk. Stacy Suyama, a 2003 junior national champion from California, lifted 62.5 kg (138 pounds) in the snatch and 70 kg (154 pounds) in the clean and jerk.
