Gucci presents exhibition,
trunk show


Gucci supports the Contemporary Museum and the firm is presenting an exhibition of isle artist Paul Pfeiffer's videos, photos and sculpture, kicking it off at the museum Thursday with a stylish reception on a beautiful, moonlit night. Gucci followed with a trunk show of its spring-summer collection yesterday that continues today and tomorrow at its Waikiki store. Maunalua -- Bobby Moderow, Bruce Spencer and Kahi Kaonohi -- performed at the museum party. Museum Director Georgianna Lagoria introduced Pfeiffer to the crowd. Gucci flew in officials for the event, including Siddhartha Shulka of New York and Susan Brubaker from L.A. Charlene Perreira led isle Gucci officials. The Berry Bunch

Several of Honolulu Symphony Board Chair Carolyn Berry's 22 guests at the Halekulani on New Year's Eve are involved in music. They included the symphony's Stephen Bloom, Sam Wong and Matt Catingub. Soprano Deborah Voigt was a guest as were singers Jimmy Borges and Kanoe Cazimero, also a fine hula dancer. Former Gov. Ben Cayetano, a karaoke singer, and his wife Vicky, a quality singer, were also in the group. The Halekulani New Year's Eve party is always one of the best with the symphony performing festive music for guests. Later, Jimmy and a hot combo of Matt on sax and vocals, pianist Jim Howard, bassist Bruce Hamada and drummer Sonny Froman backed Jimmy and they kept swinging right into the New Year ... A winning Pops Concert is in store Friday and next Saturday at the Concert Hall with Matt and the orchestra saluting the Beatles. Singers are Anita Hall, Glenn Medeiros and Henry Kapono. Estelle Green, wife of attorney Michael Green, was upset when the musical group she booked for their New Year's Eve party bailed out the day before the event. Not to worry. Actor Stephen Seagal, a friend of the Greens, was visiting with his family. He played guitar along with a CD he had made. The Greens' granddaughter, recording artist Anelaikalani Jennings, and other members of the family also performed ...

Leatrice steps up

Leatrice Sheldon stepped away as a manager at the Halekulani's House Without a Key to start Social Planners of Hawaii. Leatrice has 22 years of experience in food and beverage, starting as a waitress at the Point After soon after graduation from Waipahu High. She moved up the ladder at eateries and hotels until she decided to start her company and focus on arranging wedding, fund-raising and corporate events. Her achievements on the way up include taking part in coordinating the dinner for ex-President George Bush in 1990 at Hilton's Golden Dragon and serving on the Hawaii Restaurant Association's Board, working on various community functions.
