MOONBOW TROPICS
Maui's award-winning specialty store Moonbow Tropics opens its doors in Waikiki tomorrow, with casual wear presented in a space reflecting the grace of old Hawaii.

Welcome to Moonbow Tropics in Waikiki

Moonbow Tropics, Maui's award-winning specialty store, has arrived in Waikiki, finding itself at home in the historic Sheraton Moana Surfrider Hotel.

The move from Maui to Oahu was a natural progression for this retailer, which won the 2003 Governor's Award for Specialty Retailer of the Year, presented in June by the Retail Merchants of Hawaii.

Shop casual and aloha attire by top local manufacturers such as Tori Richard, Reyn Spooner, Kahala, Iolani, You and Me Naturally, Kamehameha and Locals Only, plus those that convey a sense of the isles, such as Tommy Bahama, in a venue sure to recall old Hawaii, with its polished bamboo floors, hand-crafted koa fixtures and decor accentuated by palms and tropical foliage, as well as historic prints and memorabilia.

The store's grand opening is from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. tomorrow. Customers can enter to win prizes, including a one-of-a-kind sapphire-and-pearl necklace and earring set valued at $1,200. A complimentary gift will be given with purchases.

Validated parking will be available in the Princess Kaiulani Hotel garage. For more information, call 924-1496 or visit www.moonbowtropics.com.

This year marks the 25th anniversary of the Pro Bowl, and Reyn Spooner has been chosen to design the official NFL 25th Anniversary Pro Bowl shirt for 2004. It will be worn by the NFC and AFC coaching staffs, members of the Hall of Fame (including this year's inductees and VIPs) and players at the official league functions during the game, which will be held Feb. 8 at Aloha Stadium.

This year's print incorporates the original and current Pro Bowl logos, and is available in navy to match shirts worn by NFC coaches and players and in red to match shirts worn by the AFC coaches and players.

The limited-edition shirts are available in reverse-print, pullover or button-front styles in Spooner Kloth, made of 60 percent pima cotton and 40 percent polyester.

Sizes run from small to 2XL for $72.50, and 3XL for $75.50. They're available at Reyn's on Oahu or online at reyns.com.

This marks the seventh year the shirt has been produced in the collector's series.

Makeovers at Macy's

The new year offers the tantalizing possibility of starting over or at least trying something new, and one of the quickest and easiest pick-me-ups is the makeover.

Today through Saturday, Macy's customers have the opportunity to receive makeup tips, consultation and expert advice on the latest skin-care and makeup products from Estée Lauder National Makeup Artist Team member Janell Basilio, formerly with M.A.C.

She'll be showing the tricks of giving skin the appearance of perfection, how to choose the perfect red for your skin tone and how to re-create the look of the stars and models she's worked with on fashion shows and rock concerts.

Makeovers will be given from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. each day.
