That stone bearer
looked pretty familiar

GOLDSMITH Paolo Migati got a call the other day and the guy on the other end of the line addressed him entirely in Italian. Paolo assumed it was a friend and agreed to put a precious stone the man had into a proper setting. "Of course," Paolo said in Italian. When the guy showed up, Paolo asked how they knew each other and the man said they'd never met. Then he realized who the guy was: actor Stephen Seagal ... Live music on the Perry & Price show at John Dominis Saturday will be provided by Local Folk, featuring Gordon Freitas & Todd Adamski, followed by Gregg Hammer & Band. The same musicians will be performing at the Na Mele Concert on Sunday at Ward Warehouse Amphitheater ...

CELEBRATING its Silver Anniversary, Territorial Airwaves hosts favorite son Ledward Ka'apana live in the studio with host Harry Soria Jr. The two will talk story and, who knows, Led may even get his guitar for a bonus tune between 5 and 6 p.m. Sunday ... And something completely different will take place Jan. 17 at Hawaii Theatre when soprano Alison England will perform "Opera, Broadway and Beyond" ...

Individuals, organizations and companies are encouraged to submit entries ...

LOOK at who's turned author. It's cooking show TV host Brickwood Galuteria. (For some reason, whenever I hear his name I always thlnk of the moniker the late Moe Keale bestowed on him, Driftwood Cafeteria.) Anyway, Brickwood has come out with "The Hawaii's Kitchen Cookbook," featuring recipes from many of Hawaii's top chefs ...

Merry Christmas indeed

EX-PATRIOT Mary Anne Stubenberg read here about my breaking my hip, thus spending all of December in hospitals here and in San Francisco, and e-mails from Lake Tahoe, "Gee, and I thought our Christmas sucked because (husband) David spent 10 hours in the emergency room of St. Vincent's Hospital while they tried to stop the bleeding from a burst blood vessel in his colon." He had a similar problem here a few years ago. He was released two days later ...

JONATHAN Barrack Griffiths backed out of the concert David Gest had on New Year's Eve due to pneumonia, continuing the bad December luck of Stubenberg. Griffiths has impressive credentials, having worked for Bette Midler and Barry Manilow. He was also one of three arrangers for the Michael Jackson 30th anniversary special ...
