Wahine stumble
with loss to Nevada
RENO, Nev. -- Jocelyn Mancebo scored 16 points and grabbed eight rebounds to lead Nevada to a 77-62 victory over Hawaii in a Western Athletic Conference matchup Monday night.
April Bankston scored 14 and Talisha Quick-Rath added 11 for the Wolf Pack (2-10, 1-1 WAC).
April Atuaia led Hawaii (3-8, 1-1) with 16 points. Amy Sanders, Jade Abele and Brittany Grice each added 10 points for the Rainbow Wahine. Abele led Hawaii in rebounds with seven.
Both teams struggled from the field with Hawaii connecting on just 19 of 54 shots (35 percent) for the game. Nevada shot just 44 percent on 30-of-68 shooting, but took advantage of some hot shooting in the first half.
The Wolf Pack took a 43-23 halftime lead by hitting on 7 of 11 shots (64 percent) from 3-point range. Nevada cooled off in the second half, connecting on just 2 of 9 from 3-point range.
