RECOGNITION

>> Security Resources, an advanced security systems company in Aiea that serves businesses and government agencies, has received the Outstanding Organization Award from the Law Enforcement and Security Coalition of Hawaii.

The coalition awarded its other 2003 "Top Cop" awards to city prosecuting attorney Peter Carlisle; Alfred Steck, a retired colonel of the Air Force Security Forces; and Honolulu police Chief Lee Donohue.

>> Hawaii Business Jaycees and Hawaii Kai Jaycees honored Lisa Ching, Jody Shiroma-Perreira and Sharene Urakami at their 35th Annual Jaycees Three Outstanding Young Persons Award banquet on Nov. 29 at the Plaza Club. Ching is president and CEO of Hawaii TechKnow Center; Shiroma-Perreira is co-founder and editor of Sassy/G Magazine, Skyward Communications; and Urakami is district sales manager of AT&T Wireless. Their names will be sent to the United States Junior Chamber for the Ten Outstanding Young Americans competition.

>> Freshman state Rep. Jon Riki Karamatsu has been selected as a fellow by the Flemming Leadership Institute, established in 1994 by the Center for Policy Alternatives. He will join a group of 30 legislators in a program that trains emerging state policy-makers in their first or second term from across the 50 states. The program focuses on the use of shared values to build consensus.
