Jackson’s fans call
nicknames for him
wacky

In light of the latest Neverland scandal, it can't be a good time to be Michael Jackson. Nor can it be all roses for Jackson's legions of loyal supporters, who must endure jokes, barbs and potshots from Jackson's detractors. To make matters worse for Michael's fans, CNN has recently taken a tip from the British tabloids by occasionally referring to the Gloved One as "Wacko Jacko."

In response, Jackson supporter Angelina Weaver has started an online petition at www.petitiononline.com/ty48999/petition.html, calling for CNN to stop using the names "Wacko" and "Jacko" when speaking of the celebrated moonwalk master. "I feel they are suppose (sic) to be a serious outlet of information," begins the online entreaty. "When they call a human being names, the seriousness goes out the window. I feel if CNN starts calling Michael Jackson by his name, others will follow. Michael Jackson was born Michael Jackson and CNN should call him just that."

As of Christmas day, there were 716 signatures, many accompanied by messages of support. "Leave him alone," writes Tuomas Miettinen, signee #616. "He's got a name, it's not that difficult," adds Javier Fernandez, #563. Jennifer Williams, protester #56, defends Jackson by saying "Michael needs to be treated fairly! He is just a unique person, and would never do anything to anybody. Michael is not that kind of guy! He has a heart to help the world, not hurt them. He has motivated millions of kids and adults not to give up on themselves."

"King of Pop will do, it's even less letters than 'Wacko Jacko,' therefore, less typing!" offers Tyler Hanley, the 47th person to sign the petition. Surname-less signee #643, LaTanya adds her own slang-heavy tirade: "Just stoppit yall! Damn! Its not funny, its not clever, its so old its growin mold! And most of all, its not even true! He is the most hella fyne sexie assed man with the most talent and the biggest heart there eva was so just cut it off now! Lord Jehova!"

Still, not all signees were in agreement with the petition, including Harry Johnson, #666, who argues "But Michael Jackson IS Wacko Jacko!" To which #667, Jason Gonzalez, replies "Harry go 2 hell and don't ever post here again." The appeal goes downhill fast from there and deteriorates into a whirlwind of name-calling and Michael Jackson jokes. As of this writing, there was no word on CNN's take on the petition.
