Secrets to Success

Deborah Cole Micek

Effective goals help you
get more control over
what kind of year
this will be for you

"Next year I'm going to ..." Have you found yourself finishing this sentence year after year in December?

Millions of people around the world still set New Year's resolutions, only to give up on them by mid-March. Sadly, too many people have given up setting goals altogether. Year after year, disappointment after disappointment -- goals go unfulfilled. This leaves people with an empty, discouraged feeling.

Have you ever asked yourself, "Why bother setting new goals for the upcoming year, only to have them unfulfilled 365-days later?"

Good news! The failure to reach goals is not a people problem. It's educational and verbal problem. Too many people never learned how to word their goals in a way that the mere thought of them energizes them into action.

Goal setting is rarely a subject taught in school, yet it's a fundamental key to lifelong success. There's an art and science to setting goals that will motivate the human mind and body day after day. If there is not a mind, body and spirit connection to every single goal you set -- you can bet you'll find yourself disappointed a few months into the new year.

Successful people who consistently reach their goals year after year are people who know how to get excited about achieving their goals and fulfilling their mission in life. Just about every day you'll find them clearly focused. They're on a mission and they aim to fulfill it. They know they don't have a minute to waste, because of how big their goals are.

Coaching corner

Ready to set your own, exciting goals for the upcoming year? I'll share one of my goals with you so you can use it as your guide to model for your own goals.

Before May 1, 2004, MyCoachingClub.com will have 500 new members actively participating in teleclasses, coaching and celebrity radio programs. They'll be reaching their goals in record time, and sharing their success secrets with their friends about this exciting new club they've joined.

You'll notice several things about this goal that makes it exciting, energizing and achievable for me. In fact, every time I merely glance over toward where this goal is posted near my computer, my heart starts beating a little faster. It propels me into action.

With every new goal you set for the upcoming new year follow these three tips that will give you the secrets to fulfilling your goals this year.

1. Include emotional words throughout the goal.

2. Assign specific dates when you'll achieve your goal.

3. Have your coach hold you accountable every week.

Successful people who have their own coach to give them accelerated information, strategies and accountability are 80 percent more likely to reach the majority of their big goals than those who think they "don't need anyone" to succeed.

A professional coach shares the motivational keys to empower their players to reach their goals in record time and won't allow them to give up half-way through the year.

There is much more to powerful goal setting than this short article can provide. But this will give you the jump start to write down your goals now for the new year, and begin thinking of what you'll do differently in your efforts to reach your goals by December 2004.

If you'd like to participate in a free coaching teleclass, where you'll learn more of the secrets to setting and reaching your goals, email me and I'll send you the phone number to call along with the access code so you can join us.

What goals will you set today that will energize and excite you -- all year round?
